Setup guide
Install the app
Find SmartShip ZA on the Shopify App Store and click Install. Approve the permissions and complete the billing approval (7-day free trial applies).
Add carrier to your profile
In Shopify, open Settings, select Shipping and delivery, and then click on Manage rates. Open your shipping profile and click Add carrier or app. Select SmartShip ZA.
Check your Shopify plan
Carrier Calculated Shipping requires Shopify Advanced, Plus, or the CCS add-on. If you don't see 'Add carrier', you may need to upgrade or add the feature.
Test at checkout
Add a product to your cart and proceed to checkout. Enter a South African delivery address with a valid postal code. SmartShip ZA rates should appear.
Troubleshooting
No rates showing at checkout
Check: (1) SmartShip ZA is added as a carrier in your shipping profile. (2) Your Shopify plan supports Carrier Calculated Shipping. (3) The destination postal code is valid.
Rate shows but wrong zone
Zone classifications follow standard courier definitions. If a postcode is incorrect, email the postal code and expected zone. We update regularly.
App installed but billing page didn't appear
In your Shopify admin, go to Apps and open SmartShip ZA. The billing approval should appear. If it does not, open the app directly from your admin apps lis
Carrier service shows as inactive
Uninstall and reinstall the app. The carrier service registers automatically. If the issue persists, contact support with your store domain.
App URL changed after redeployment
SmartShip ZA auto updates the carrier service callback URL on login. Log out and back in to trigger the update.
